1st Superbike: Sheer Elation.

The Dark Knight

We all have a side within ourselves which is beyond normal and somewhat ardent towards unconventional way of life. This is generally something not to boast about, but when you start marking off the bucket list you tend to feel like anything.

2nd February 2020 was the day when I finally owned the much awaited Yamaha YZF-R3 and it is one of the most prized possession of mine. Similar to my state of restlessness was the first impression of the bike. It seemed that it wanted nothing but to be loosened, to be discovered. Wait for the same was not so long as we already hit the roads to Udaipur from Noida after first service.

“We” concludes never ending comradeship of my childhood friend Nikhil which is also a motor head like me. He owns Ninja 300 which is the most suitable partner to my R3 as both can match each other at every turn and unceasing tarmac.

The above serene picture is from a village near Kumbalgarh Fort in Udaipur. We had just started our trip backwards to home and there was a 30 km narrow stretch with almost no traffic but scene so astounding that it tempted us to stop and take pictures at almost every corner. Udaipur is really a super location for bike trips.

Yamaha or basically Japanese are known for having an edge on technology with supreme quality and reliability. Owning this one has put an unsaid compulsion on my choices that all upcoming bikes would be Japanese and preferably Yamaha or Honda.

This beast is so nimble to ride opposing to the fact that this looks so daunting and aggressive with respect to aesthetics. Ride quality and refinement is par excellence and truly evince its make and manufacture in Japan. Keeping aside the technical features and information which is easily available on internet, this needs no evaluation at least going by my experience of near 4000 kilometres.
